Doosan Bears' Yang Eui-ji excluded from the starting lineup on the 21st

Doosan will hold a home game against the SSG Landers of the 2024 Shinhan SOL BANK KBO League at 6:30 p.m. on the 21st at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul.

On the day, Doosan set up its starting lineup with Jung Soo-bin (center fielder), Lee Yoo-chan (third baseman), Kang Seung-ho (second baseman), Kim Jae-hwan (designated hitter), Yang Seok-hwan (first baseman), Henry Ramos (right fielder), Kim Ki-yeon (pitch), Jeon Min-jae (striker), and Jo Su-haeng (left fielder). The starting pitcher is right-handed sidearm Choi Won-joon.

What stands out is the exclusion of catcher Yang Eui-ji from the starting lineup. Yang Eui-ji is leading the Doosan lineup this season with a batting average of 0.331 OPS (on-base plus slugging) of 0.852 with six homers and 41 RBIs.

Doosan manager Lee Seung-yeop said, "I got a severe bruise in Gwangju. As a catcher, I think it will take two to three days."

"If I try too hard, I can play as a designated hitter. However, when I am not in good condition, I have no reason to play. I will wait as a substitute in the game on that day," he added.

A Doosan official explained, "Yang Eui-ji was hit on the left knee by Choi Hyung-woo's foul ball against the KIA Tigers on the 15th."

To fill Yang Eui-ji's absence, Doosan raised catcher Yoon Joon-ho and erased pitcher Choi Jong-in from the first division. Manager Lee explained, "Since (Kim) Ki-yeon has to watch the catcher alone, we need a backup catcher, so we changed the entry. (Kim) Ki-yeon seems to have to start for the time being."

"I'm not in a bad condition, but I didn't get many chances. I'm playing as a third baseman for the third time, and I'm in good condition. I think (Cho) Haeng-yi is also a little tired. That's why I picked Lee as the second hitter with good batting performance," Lee said.
